IO Ports

The Controller Deck exposes the following physical connectors, all accessible on the rear or left side panel of the device. Each port is described below with its role and, when relevant, its electrical or protocol characteristics.

Power (24V)

_images/connectors_power.jpg

The Controller Deck is powered externally through a dedicated 24V DC Jack barrel connector. This input powers the whole unit, and can also provide power or charge the computer connected over the USB-C connection [if the computer supports USB Power Delivery (PD)].

Voltage

24V DC

Purpose

Main power supply for the whole device

Purpose

Can provide power to the connected computer over USB-C

Note

The device cannot be powered from USB-C alone and requires a 24V power supply to operate. The USB-C connection is used for data transfer and can provide power to the connected computer, but it does not power the Controller Deck itself.

USB-C (Host PC connection)

The USB-C port is used to connect the Controller Deck to the

computer. It carries:

USB Power Delivery (PD)

Optionally provide power to the connected computer.

USB MIDI interface

Control surface events, see MIDI Protocol.

USB Bulk interface

Update the TouchDeck grid screen and the fader label screens, see Icons Protocol.

USB Audio interface

Described below in Audio Input/Output (USB sound card).

USB Video Class (UVC) video capture interface

Described below in Video Input (HDMI / SDI).

DisplayPort Alt Mode video output interface

Described below in Video Output (USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode).

Ethernet (Gigabit)

_images/connectors_ethernet.jpg

A standard RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet port. It can be used to provide a reliable wired network connection to the connected computer, without the need for an additional USB-to-Ethernet adapter.

Connector

RJ45

Speed

2.5 Gbps (Gigabit)

Audio Input/Output (USB sound card)

_images/connectors_audio.jpg

The Controller Deck integrates a stereo USB sound card, exposed to the host as a standard USB Audio Class device, for both playback and recording.

Class

USB Audio Class (UAC)

Bitrate

768 kbit/s stereo

Product name

PureAudio

Audio input

2x 3.5mm TS jack (L + R)

Audio output

2x 3.5mm TS jack (L + R)

See full details about the audio input/output capabilities in Pure Audio Device.

Video Input (HDMI / SDI)

_images/connectors_video_in.jpg

The Controller Deck can capture an external video source over either HDMI or SDI. The captured video is exposed to the host computer as a standard USB video capture device (UVC), so it can be used directly in any video conferencing, streaming or production software as a webcam source.

Connectors

HDMI, SDI

Exposed as

USB Video Class (UVC) capture device

Video Output (USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode)

_images/connectors_video_out.jpg

Using the DisplayPort Alt Mode capability of USB-C, the Controller Deck can also output video to a monitor or projector.

Connector

USB-C (DisplayPort Alt Mode)
